Equality Information and Objectives
Public Sector Equality Duty
St John’s Stonefold CE Primary School welcomes its duties under the Equality Act 2010. We are committed to ensuring equality of opportunity for all pupils, staff, parents, carers and members of our school community.
In carrying out our functions, the school has due regard to the need to:
- eliminate discrimination, harassment, victimisation and other conduct prohibited by the Equality Act 2010;
- advance equality of opportunity between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not;
- foster good relations between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not.
These principles are embedded within our Christian vision, “Rooted and Established in God’s Love: Nurture, Grow, Fly” (Ephesians 3:17), and our EAGLE values of Empathy, Aspiration, Generosity, Love and Endurance.
How we meet the Public Sector Equality Duty
At St John’s Stonefold, we fulfil our equality duties through our policies, curriculum and everyday practice. This includes:
- promoting equality, inclusion and respect throughout school life;
- monitoring the achievement, attendance, behaviour and participation of different groups of pupils;
- identifying and addressing barriers to learning and participation;
- making reasonable adjustments for pupils with disabilities;
- providing an inclusive curriculum which promotes understanding of diversity and equality;
- tackling prejudice, discrimination, harassment and bullying;
- promoting positive relationships and respect between different groups;
- ensuring pupils with SEND and disabilities can participate fully in the curriculum and wider life of the school;
- considering equality implications when policies and significant decisions are made;
- monitoring our accessibility arrangements and taking action to improve access where necessary;
- working with pupils, parents, staff and governors to review the effectiveness of our provision.
Equality information
Our school regularly considers information about our pupils and school community to identify any inequalities, barriers to participation or differences in outcomes.
We use information including attainment and progress, attendance, behaviour, SEND, disadvantage, participation in clubs and enrichment activities and pupil voice to inform our actions and school improvement priorities.
Where publishing detailed information could identify individual pupils because of small cohort sizes, information is considered internally rather than published.
Equality Objectives
The school sets equality objectives which support our commitment to eliminating discrimination, advancing equality of opportunity and fostering good relations.
Our current Equality Objectives are:
| Objective | Key actions | Success criteria | Responsibility | Timescale | Progress |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
